Don’t know what to do at night in Bruges? Whether you’re a party animal or a quiet night owl, a fan of bars, pubs, concerts, clubs and other lively places, what better way to feel the atmosphere of a neighborhood where it’s good to go out than by going out at night in Bruges
Here is my selection of the best places to spend a good evening.
In Bruges, even if there is no shortage of pubs and bars, you won’t find any clubs or similar establishments to dance in, so don’t bother taking your dancing shoes in your luggage.
If you want to find some excitement, you’ll have to head to the old town, where you’ll discover a multitude of traditional-style bars selling incredible beers from all over the region.
If you’re more interested in going out to some of Brugess’ trendy spots, head to the party haunts in the Kuipersstraat and Zilverstraat neighborhoods.
Follow the guide, I’ll show you my favorite places in Bruges to go out and have fun!
What to do at night in Bruges : List the best bars
De Garre : the best bar in Bruges
One of the best bars in Bruges, De Garre is nestled in the narrowest street of the city.
This medieval-style bar serves a strong beer called (you guessed it) De Garre, so strong that the waiters will not serve you more than three glasses.
Each glass comes with a piece of cheese in a desperate attempt to make the beer less strong, but it’s a waste of time.
Go out in Bruges at ‘tPoatersgat
If you’re lucky enough to find ‘t Poatersgat (which translates as the monk’s hole) you can have a drink in a bar that is simply extraordinary.
Don’t hesitate to ask locals for directions to the entrance.
Once you enter the cellar where the bar is located, you will be immediately immersed in the atmosphere with the smell of beer and the dimmed lights.
It’s really the perfect place to spend a few hours with friends and try some of the 120 beers available.
tBrugsBeertje
If you have trouble reading and figuring out how to pronounce the name of this mythical Flemish city spot, then give up all hope of making it after trying the 300 or so beers the bar offers.
The walls are lined with old vintage beer ads, this warm and welcoming watering hole is a veritable shrine to the Belgian national drink, and the friendly staff knows everything there is to know about the famous hop-based brew.
Muttley’s: the relaxed bar to go out at night in Bruges
A small bar with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere for going out in Bruges, Muttley’s is a bar with character where you can drink, drink and drink.
The bar does indeed offer a wide range of beers and alcohols of all kinds, but very few snacks to eat.
If you like to chat and shun bars where the music is too loud, look no further, this is the perfect bar to meet and share good times.
Clubs in Bruges to go out all night
Bras Cafe
If you really like to go to clubs in Bruges, party without limits (or almost) and you like dance bars with a crazy atmosphere, Bras Cafe (also known as Bras Club) is THE place you will love in Bruges.
Whether you drink beer or cocktails, the long menu at your disposal will delight you and you’ll have a night out of the ordinary.
It’s a lively club where the atmosphere is always good-natured and where you can leave all your inhibitions at the door.
Expect to see naked bodies, drunken people and debaucherous parties.
Address: HetZand 10 (‘t Zand 9), Bruges, 8000

De Coulissen : the classy club in Bruges
Located in the former Bank of Bruges, De Coulissen is the only real nightclub in the city and a popular meeting place for the young hipsters of the region.
It is the exact antithesis of the other so-called clubs in Bruges (where beer flows freely and dancers wave their arms like disjointed puppets), De Coulissen is classy and quality DJs take turns at the turntables for a more elaborate music playlist than anywhere else until the early morning.
Address: Jakob Van Ooststraat4, Bruges, 8000

Ma Rica Rokk
The city doesn’t really have a real scene for clubbers, so they end up at Ma Rica Rokk where the floor is sticky, the drinks are cheap and the girls are not always the age they claim to be…
The music is mostly commercial, but you’ll find the atmosphere perfect after enjoying the “crazyhour” at the bar. It is certainly not the cleanest club you will visit.

Concerts and live music to go out in Bruges
The Cactus Club
The Cactus Club is one of the only contemporary music clubs in Bruges, hosting rock bands, world music events and international DJs in a concert hall that can hold 100 to 1000 people.
The club also organizes the Cactus festival which takes place during 3 days in the Minnewater park every July.

Le Comptoir Des Artes
Known as the den of Bruges’ bluesmen, the Comptoir is the perfect place to go out at night in Bruges and spend an hour or two listening to good music over a good beer.
With a comedy stage on Mondays and live music regularly scheduled the rest of the week, Comptoir Des Artes has more to offer than just great food and beer.
The bar remains a favorite meeting place for locals, where you can sit quietly at a table, but we advise you to stay at the counter itself.

The main auditorium seats 1300 people, while the chamber music hall seats 350.

Joey’s Bar: the bar with character to go out in Bruges and listen to good music
Managed by locals, Joey’s is a bar with character where you can spend good evenings in Bruges, dimly lit, which turns into a concert hall for intimate musical meetings.
Artists play there regularly, but you’ll be lucky if you arrive on a concert night.
Still, the music isn’t its only advantage. Sit back and enjoy the casual atmosphere, chat with the friendly waiters and enjoy delicious cocktails.
