The district to avoid in Sintra?

Terrugem

Located a 16-minute drive from the centre of Sintra, Terrugem is one of the quietest areas in which to stay in Sintra. We do not recommend this area of Sintra, as it is too far from the centre of the city, which makes it difficult to get to most points of interest. Nevertheless, here’s what you’ll find

  • the Capela de Santa Eufemia church, with its incredible presence and indescribable ancient architecture.
  • Don’t miss a visit to the Museu do Ar for a short lesson in the evolution of aeronautics since its inception.
  • For its part, the Quinta Da Ribafria manor house offers a soothing escape to the heart of nature, with the added bonus of a trip back to the 16th century.
  • Take a guided tour of Sintra with Terra Azul Emotion Tours, which will show you the most beautiful spots.
  • Taste excellent Portuguese dishes at Don Pedro Guedes and enjoy a warm welcome and highly personalised service.

Where to stay near Sintra

Lisbon’s Baixia district

loger-alentours-sintra-lisbonne

It’s safe to say that Baixa is Lisbon’s most dynamic district. You’ll find great accommodation options here, and you’ll be blown away by its beautifully decorated facades and lively streets.

What’s more, you’ll have the chance to visit some sublime sights such as :

  • Avenue de la Liberté, with all its grandeur and 19th-century mansions, terraces and gardens.
  • Restaurateurs Square, where an impressive obelisk pays tribute to all those who rebelled against the Spanish occupation.
  • Rossio Square, which dates back to the 13th century and is now a symbol of the Portuguese capital.
  • Place du Figuier, with its equestrian statue of JohnI and traditional buildings typical of Lisbon.
  • Rue du Commerce, which replaced the former royal palace and is now a particularly lively part of Lisbon.
