That’s because it’s close to all the main sights, including the Alhambra, and there’s always something going on!

There are numerous restaurants and tapas bars dotted around the streets of El Centro, all of which stay lively well into the night.

If you feel like partying even harder afterwards, there are also a few good clubs in the area, such as El Vogue.

Sacromonte: the place to stay as a couple

quartier-dormir-grenade-sacromonte

If music and history are part of your holiday plans, then
Sacromonte is quite simply THE district in which we warmly invite you
to stay!

This district lies just north of the Alhambra citadel, and it was here that the gypsies settled and forged their culture in relation to Spain.

They occupied caves that were transformed into performance spaces for the zambra, an intense form of flamenco that originated in this small corner of the world.

If you choose this area to stay in Granada, you’ll be immersed in another era!

Things to see and do in Sacromonte :

– Walk from cuevas to cuevas (traditional cave dwellings)

– Attend a flamenco dance show

– Admire the architecture of the local abbey

– Enjoy the view of the Alhambra.

Albayzín: the tourist area to stay in Granada

loger-quartier-grenade-Albayzín

Albayzín is Granada’s oldest and most picturesque district. It was built in medieval times by the Moors on the hillside facing the Alhambra.

There really is something magical about this place, and it’s easy to see why it’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site!

Thanks to its location, Albayzín offers the best views of Granada and the Alhambra. The fortress is located on the hill just outside the district.

quartier-alhambra-sejourner-grenade

A small castle already existed here before the arrival of the Muslims, but it was they who really created the architectural masterpiece we know today.

A little friendly advice on visiting this palace: as the Alhambra is the most visited monument in Granada (and the whole of Spain), we suggest that you pre-order your tickets.

Things to see and do in Albayzín :

– Get lost in the labyrinthine streets on the hill

– Visit the famous Alhambra fortress

– Climb to a rooftop for the best views of Granada and
the Alhambra

– Visit the viewpoint from the Mirador de San Nicolas

meilleur-quartier-loger-grenade

Backpackers and young tourists looking for a central area full of nightlife, culture and affordable places to stay are strongly encouraged to stay in Beiro.

This is where you’ll find bars and clubs with a more international feel. What’s more, the ancient Arab culture that shaped Granada is more present here thanks to the teahouses, hookah bars and art galleries.

This is also where you’ll find Granada’s main bus stations and
train stations. Even if you’re not staying in Beiro, it’s worth visiting
for all the gastronomic delights it has to offer.

Bola de Oro: the family district

grenade-quartier-bola-de-oro-loger

Bola de Oro is a quieter part of Granada and, as such, is an ideal
place to stay if you are travelling with your family
and are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city at night.

Although there are no cultural sites per se in Bola de Oro, the city centre is a short bus ride away and easy to get to.

If the kids like, you can walk to the Alhambra and other places of interest in around 20 minutes. In fact, it’s a really fun activity to do on a summer’s evening, after a tapas bar!

In Bola de Oro, visitors will find many pleasant pedestrian areas
, lined with leafy trees, and superb views of the
Sierra Nevada mountain range in the distance.

Things to see and do in Bola de Oro:

– Admire the Iglesia De La Virgen, a 17th-century basilica

Realejo: the place to go out in Granada

grenade-endroit-dormir-bar-sortir

Realejo is a friendly, festive and trendy neighbourhood. It has many
bars and restaurants with terraces, where locals come to dine in summer to
cool off from those hot summer days.

The Carmen de los Mártires gardens are the main attraction, typical of the Andalusian style.

The area is also home to the famous Alhambra and much of the Dehesa del Generalife park.

generalife-grenade-ou-dormir

At the time of the Nasrid dynasty (who ruled the city during its heyday), this was the Jewish quarter.

Today, Realejo is emblematic of the Andalusian villas with their gardens that open onto the street: the Cármenes.

It’s a pleasant neighbourhood, albeit a little out of the way, and one that we recommend you stay in if you like to party.

Things to see and do in the Realejo :

– Drink a cheap but delicious cocktail in Colagallo (for 4 euros

La Chana: the residential district

quartier-residentiel-grenade-sejourner

La Chana is a commercial and residential district located to the north-west of
Granada’s city centre, and is frequented by tourists looking for a more bohemian
experience.

In recent years, this area has become the culinary centre of Granada (more so than El Centro, in fact), and restaurateurs are known to compete fiercely for customers by offering tapas, live music and discounted drinks!

To cater for students (yes, the University of Granada is located here), portions are both larger and cheaper than in other parts of the city.

So, if you want to soak up the local atmosphere and sample some of the region’s most authentic specialities, this is the place to stay.

Holiday rentals here are very reasonably priced, and
tourists can easily find transport to
the Alhambra and other attractions.

Things to see and do in La Chana:

– Get gigantic portions for a very modest price in the
tapas bars

– Discover the produce on sale at La Chana market stalls

– Taste local specialities

– Enjoy the greenery of Nazari Park

– Take in a show at the José Tamayo Theatre.
