The imposing Palazzo Vecchio, which means the “Old Palace” offers a magical show as soon as the sun goes down, it remains open for visits until 11pm every night of the week except Thursdays between April and September.

Built in the 14th century, Florence’s town hall has a magnificent interior adorned with cornices, large tapestries and works of art that will delight painting enthusiasts, especially incredible pieces by Michelangelo, Vasari and Da Vinci.

Enjoy a Negroni on the terrace

The Negroni cocktail, a very popular aperitif in Italy, is said to have been invented in Florence at Caffè Casoni (formerly Caffè Giacosa, now Caffè Roberto Cavalli) on Via de’ Tornabuoni in 1919.

The Negroni consists of a shot of gin, a shot of vermouth rosso and a shot of Campari with orange peel as garnish.

The region’s iconic drink was first created by bartender Fosco Scarselli, when Count Camillo Negroni asked him to make a stronger version of his favorite cocktail, the Americano, by replacing soda water with gin.

Scarselli added an orange peel garnish instead of the traditional lemon garnish of the Americano to make a statement, and thus the Negroni was born! You can enjoy a Negroni in almost any bar in the city.

Florence is undeniably one of the most beautiful cities in the world, but many say that this beauty is even more sublime when you visit it in the evening after dark and the streets are lit by the soft light of the moon.

The historic center is almost entirely pedestrian and its romantic, narrow and winding streets are ideal for a timeless escape and will transport you to another era.

At night, the Ponte Vecchio, Piazza della Signoria, Piazza del Duomo, Piazza Santa Croce and Piazza Santo Spirito are particularly magical and enchanting.
