Where to stay with children : Leith

edimbourg-Leith-quartier-loger

Once a town in its own right, totally separate from Edinburgh, Leith, in the east, has retained an atmosphere of independence and self-sufficiency. This is the district we recommend to the family.

A happy mix of industrial and decidedly modern influences, the once bustling harbour is now home to two Michelin-starred restaurants and countless other popular establishments.

There are countless small hotels and guesthouses in the area, with prices to suit all budgets.

Just to the east of Leith, but away from Edinburgh city centre, Portobello was once a seaside resort, very lively in the summer months, and has retained its old-fashioned charm.
