Sleep in the Vieux-Nice district: the historic epicentre

vieux-nice-quartier-loger

The first district we recommend for accommodation in Nice is one of the most charming in the city. This is Vieux-Nice, the historic and cultural epicentre of the Côte d’Azur capital.

Vieux-Nice reminds you of the beautiful Italian cities and transports you to the heart of the Mediterranean climate.

Indeed, it’s worth noting that Nice’s old quarter is an ancient Italian city. Despite Nice’s rapid development, the old town has retained its authenticity. Vieux-Nice still has the appearance of a magnificent village from the Middle Ages.

On either side of this gentle quarter, you’ll see buildings with colourful facades, narrow cobbled streets and red-tiled roofs… but that’s not all, the best is yet to come! Vieux-Nice is a heavenly spot on the Côte d’Azur seafront.

The district is very close to the city’s port, more precisely between the harbour and the Albert premier garden. What’s more, Vieux-Nice is a lively area with plenty of restaurants and entertainment venues. On the other hand, it’s also a peaceful place where you can relax and enjoy an unforgettable holiday with family, friends or lovers.

Last but not least, living in Vieux-Nice gives you the chance to visit a number of historic monuments, such as the Cathédrale Sainte-Réparate de Nice and the Eglise de Jésus. But one of the area’s greatest attractions is the Cours Saleya market, where you can discover the wonderful scents of flowers and local produce.

So, we really advise you to stay in the Vieux Quartier if you’re coming to Nice for the first time.

The Port and Garibaldi district is one of the trendiest areas in the beautiful city of Nice. Located between Vieux-Nice and Mont Boron, this area is bursting with life.

The area boasts a number of inviting restaurants, cafés and bars. It’s a great place to enjoy a good morning breakfast while breathing in the enchanting Côte d’Azur breeze.

Another important reason for staying in the Port and Garibaldi district is the breathtaking views from the flats.

Where to stay in Nice? Cimiez, the aristocratic district

loger-quartier-cimiez-nice-famille

The Cimiez district is a residential area where it’s great to spend a family holiday in Nice. It’s worth noting that Cimiez is a district steeped in history. It was a favourite haunt of the European nobility and aristocracy.

Queen Victoria regularly stayed in the Cimiez district during her holidays in the beautiful city of Nice. As a result, Cimiez was by far the quietest part of Nice.

Opulent personalities came here to relax and enjoy the mild, soothing climate of south-east France. In this respect, Cimiez is also one of the areas of Nice where it is very difficult to find accommodation on a budget. However, you can still consider AirBnB or two-star hotels.

Today, it’s worth noting that Cimiez remains a peaceful place that’s accessible to many tourists. You’ll love sleeping in the magnificent villas and strolling through the elegant streets of Cimiez with your family.

You’ll also find some of Nice’s best museums and amusement parks. So we really recommend staying here if you’re coming to Nice with the kids.

In Gambetta, you’ll find plenty of fun things to do without breaking the bank. With its magnificent beaches and numerous restaurants, you’ll find it hard to get bored in Gambetta.

Last but not least, Gambetta is the perfect place to find accommodation on a tight budget. All the flats here are very affordable. So, if you’re coming to the Côte d’Azur capital on an average budget, we really suggest you put your bags down in Gambetta.

The best area to stay in Nice: the Promenade des Anglais

Famous, beautiful and around 6 km long, the Promenade des Anglais is not a district in itself, but rather an avenue. However, you will find a number of flats and hotels in the vicinity of this legendary avenue.

Built in 1820, the Promenade des Anglais is now the most popular spot in Nice. Indeed, many tourists and residents choose to stay along this avenue because of its proximity to the Bay of Angels, its famous squares (Negresco, for example), its attractive beaches and its many casinos.

We really do recommend that you find accommodation in the area around the Promenade des Anglais. However, as this is a much-loved area, accommodation prices are likely to be very expensive.

Libération: a fast-growing district of Nice

Libération is certainly one of the districts of Nice that will welcome the largest number of travellers over the next ten years. In fact, this outlying district of Nice is constantly expanding. It has to be said that the Libération district is a pleasant and welcoming place.

For the time being, it is one of the neighbourhoods where housing is very affordable. We really do recommend that you stay here at very affordable prices. In fact, there are a number of attractive projects underway here, including an underground car park, a sports complex, shopping centres and a multiplex cinema. So it’s clear that housing costs will soon be rising in the Libération district.

Jean-Médecin: Nice’s most festive district

If you’re coming to the Côte d’Azur capital to party the night away, then we really recommend that you find accommodation in this new district of Nice.

First and foremost, Jean Médecin is renowned for its great shopping streets. In fact, during the day, this vibrant district is packed with local residents and tourists keen to go shopping with family or friends.

In the evening, it’s a completely different story… The district is transformed into a veritable paradise for night owls and tourists coming to Nice to have fun. The many bars and restaurants in Nice’s new district provide an intoxicating atmosphere.

Many tourists come here to drink, eat and, above all, dance the night away in Nice. So, whatever type of fun you’re looking for, you’ll find it in the new district, Jean-Médecin.
